Capturing newborn photos without leaving home

by | May 21, 2024

Does a newborn session feel like it’s in the too hard basket?

When I had my first baby, I really wanted newborn photos, but I had just moved to a new city, my anxiety was at an all time high and the thought of getting us all out the door for a family photo shoot felt too much.

Then with my second, I had a toddler running around and between waking up to him and my daughter, booking photos was one more thing on the never ending to-do list.

But sooner than I thought, the baby stage was over and I realised I’d let it pass with barely any photos of the kids and I.

Cue in-home newborn session

That’s why I wanted to create a session that was more than just pretty pictures.

“You have turned our mayhem into magic! You’re a wizard Alice!”

It’s a chance for the whole family to be seen!

As a mother, I know how easy it is to be missing from family photos.

Our presence so crucial to our baby’s childhoods but so often those moments are left to be forgotten.

We are not only the memory makers but the memory keepers in our child’s life.

Newborn session at home: relaxed, safe, seen

And what better place to create and capture memories than your home, where you all feel most relaxed, safe and seen.

No rushing around and long after your family has left your baby’s first home, they’ll have memories they can hold in their hand to remind them.

They’ll see how you looked at them, held them and loved them.

When to book your newborn and maternity sessions

Newborn sessions can be booked from around 16-20 weeks (before life becomes hectic with check-ups, packing your hospital bag and counting down until maternity leave).

It’s also a great opportunity to book a maternity session, which is included when booking a newborn session at the same time.

We pencil in baby’s due date and once they’re here, you simply send me a text and we arrange the best day to have your little one captured.

At home, everything you need is all right there and we take as many breaks as needed for feeding, burping and settling.

“I just don’t know how you do it! I have just seen your slogan – making magic from your mayhem – ACCURATE! This is exactly what you do.”

“These photos are so precious! You are a genius. We are over the moon we did it!”

“How did you get those amazing photos in such a short amount of time? The ones of [my baby] just make my heart sing.”

If you’re expecting a baby and want to capture this precious time with warmth, gentle guidance and a focus on connection, reach out. Let’s document the details of the beginning of your child’s story.
