Professional Newborn Photography for Your Growing Family

Back in 2015, I’d just had my first baby.

I was figuring out how to care for this tiny human, running on hardly any sleep (thanks, hormones)… and even though I really wanted to capture that time, it just felt like too much to organise.

That’s exactly why I’ve made it simple for you to plan everything before your baby arrives — so when the time comes, you don’t have to think about a thing. It’s all taken care of.

Because what could matter more than preserving those first hours, days or weeks — when you held your baby and looked at them with absolute awe and love in your eyes?

What is a newborn lifestyle session?

Lifestyle sessions are about capturing your daily home life or those first hours and days in hospital.

It’s very relaxed and focuses on baby’s bond with their family, those first snuggles, baths and feeding.

It’s about telling the story of their first days in this world.

Booking

For newborn sessions, please book anytime during your pregnancy. We’ll pencil in a date until we have a birth date.

Once we’ve selected an estimated date, I’ll call you to:

  • decide where you’d like your session held – hospital, home, my studio or outdoors
  • give advice on styling
  • work out where in your home you plan to display your artwork – send me a photo of your room or wall and we can design something specially.

Want to book in for a maternity session?

Book your newborn and maternity session at the same time and you’ll receive your maternity session at no additional cost (my package prices stay exactly the same).

Maternity sessions are best held between 28-32 weeks but if you’re outside these dates, let’s chat.

Your Session

The first days with a newborn can feel very overwhelming, particularly if this is your first.

Lifestyle sessions take this into account and are very much about making you and baby feel at ease and enjoy the quiet moments as they’re documented.

You’ll be forever grateful you booked to have this hazy time in your life captured in absolute clarity.

The Photos

At the time of booking your portrait session, we’ll also book you in for a viewing appointment of your images.

Within 10 days of your session, I’ll invite you to my studio to view your images for the first time and I’ll help you to design your artwork on the day.

Collections of artwork (three or more frames or canvas) range up to $3,200, digital packages start at $795.

Then it’s just a matter of waiting for your artwork to arrive!

Your Artwork

Fine art prints, albums and wall collections will be delivered within eight weeks of your session.

They are ready to hang in your home, to be cherished for years to come.

Want a studio session?

If having a session at home feels like too much, why not bring your little one to the calm and comfort of my studio?

I’ve got everything you might need — soft wraps, knitted outfits, white noise, cosy spots to feed, and even snacks for you.

No worrying about tidying the house. Just quiet moments to soak up your newborn bubble — and have it beautifully captured.

When should I schedule my newborn photoshoot?

The ideal time for a newborn session is within the first two weeks after birth, when your baby is still sleepy, curled up, and easy to settle into those sweet, womb-like positions. That said, beautiful images can be created at any stage. I recommend booking during your pregnancy to make sure we have a spot reserved for you. It also gives you the chance to have a maternity session, which are offered complimentary when booking your newborn session at the same time.

How should I prepare for a newborn photoshoot?

You don’t need to do much. Just feed your baby right before the session, and dress in something comfy – soft, neutral colours work best. I’ll guide you through everything else. If there are special items you’d like to include (like a family heirloom or blanket), feel free to bring them along.

Where should I have my newborn session?

You can choose the location that feels right for you — whether that’s at home, in a hospital, in my cosy studio, or even outdoors in a spot that’s special to your family.

Fresh 48 sessions (taken in hospital within the first day or two after birth) are a beautiful way to capture your baby at the tiniest they’ll ever be — all that newness, those tiny fingers, that fresh-from-the-womb magic.

In-home sessions tell the story of your family life just as it is — with your favourite things around you, your baby’s nursery, and the quiet intimacy of home.

The studio is perfect if you’d rather not worry about tidying up. Everything is ready here to help you feel comfortable, calm, and at ease — with beautiful natural light, soft tones, and everything we need to create timeless images.

Wherever we shoot, the focus will always be on connection — and capturing your baby’s earliest days in a way that feels true to you.

Do I need to bring anything for the newborn session?

I have everything we need — wraps, blankets and simple outfits — but you’re more than welcome to bring anything meaningful or sentimental you’d love included. This session is all about your baby and your story.

How long does a newborn photoshoot take?

Newborn sessions usually take about 2 hours. That gives us plenty of time for feeding, settling, changing, and capturing all those little details without rushing. These sessions are designed to be calm, slow, and baby-led.

Is it safe to have a photoshoot for my newborn?

Yes — your baby’s safety is always my top priority.

I’m trained in safe, gentle posing techniques specifically for newborns, and I create a calm, baby-led environment where your little one is always handled with care. I keep my infant and child first aid and CPR certification up to date, and I’m fully vaccinated against whooping cough for the health and safety of your family.

I’m also a proud member of the Professional Photography Business Network, a group committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, honesty, and integrity in the industry. Each year, I invest in ongoing education to stay up-to-date with the best practices in newborn photography, so you can feel completely at ease, knowing your baby is in safe and experienced hands.
